During the winter months, dry skin can leave you feeling itchy and flaky! If you have not been taking good care of your winter skin, your skin may be suffering. This week, we have some tips to add to your skin care routine. Healthy, moisturized skin CAN survive the winter!
#1: Use a moisturizer. It is so important to choose an oil-based moisturizer for your face, body, hands, and feet. It helps to seal the skin, preserving the moisture in the low humidity.
#2: Wear sunscreen. Yes, sunscreen is still a must in the winter! Protecting your face is especially important when you are out and about. Make sure you choose a sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher.
#3: Shower like a skin care pro. Did you know that showering/bathing everyday can strip your body from its natural oils? In the winter, you may want to wash up every other day. If you can’t do that, use warm water (hot will dry out your skin faster!) and limit your session to 10 minutes or less. When you get out, moisturize while you are still damp to preserve the moisture.
#4: Cure cracked hands and feet. Hands and feet are usually the first to suffer from the cold! Aside from using your oil-based moisturizer, you should also protect your hands with mittens while out and wear warm, comfortable socks and shoes to keep your feet toasty.
